Mengwasser Family + Snowy Utah Family Photos

This snowy session was shot in early December 2025 up Big Cottonwood Canyon. If you live in Utah, you know we hadn’t gotten much snow by then. Leading up to this session date, I was a little worried we wouldn’t have enough snow to make is as beautiful as it could be. It ended up being just enough, and the photos turned out beautifully! This was my second session with this gorgeous family, and I’m so grateful they wanted to book with me again! Their first session, is also one of my favorites. I have photographed the Smith family several times, and they also brought their son to my portrait minis this year! I adore them, return clients are just the best. I’m excited to see them each time, and see how adorable Oliver has grown. He has such a playful and adventurous spirit. He always makes it so fun!

Mengwasser Family + Utah Mountains

I adored meeting this family! They were so sweet and easy to talk to. It was fun to spend a beautiful evening the Utah mountains getting to know them a little. Their little girl was an absolute angel! She was so pleasant and happy for the entire session, I couldn’t believe it. She even gave me a few smiles. This session was shot in October of 2024, but this location is gorgeously green and even has some wildflowers right now. The wildflowers will only last a couple more weeks, so don’t miss out!

Utah + In-Home Newborn Session

This family was the absolute sweetest! It was such an honor to document their newest addition, in their beautiful home. Little Bode was such an angel for his session. I adore in-home newborn sessions, and they are even better at home! It relieves so much stress for the new mom. During this session, big sister needed a little break and it was so easy for her to take few minutes downstairs and have a snack. There’s no rushing to get everyone ready and in the car, so you can get to your session on time.

Rasmussen Family + Lifestyle Newborn Session

I absolutely love lifestyle newborn sessions! Adding a new member to the family is such a special time that needs to be documented. The Rasmussen family added sweet Olivia to their family just over two weeks ago. She was so perfect and fought to stay awake during most of the session. Reagan will be such a fun big sister. Strang Family + Raleigh North Carolina Family Session

This family has my heart! Joanna is my sister-in-law and she has the sweetest family! They used to live close to us, but last year they moved to North Carolina. We were recently able to visit them and it was so fun! We loved being able to spend time with them. I’m so glad I was able to get in a family session while I was there. Jace + Lifestyle Newborn Session

I love including the entire family in a newborn session, especially when I get to photograph them in their own home! Adding a baby to family creates an entirely new dynamic and capturing that is so special. Martin Family + Memory Grove Park

The Martin family was so sweet! Their beautiful little Serena was so laid back and relaxed during their session. I was completely shocked! Usually at her age, they just want to crawl away and do anything but pose for the camera. Courtni and Kade make such a cute couple and their interactions were so sweet! Anderson Family + Orchard Session

I was so excited for this session because the last time I photographed this family was a dream! (You can see that session here.) Their sweet girls are looking so much older now! The whole family is so sweet and their sessions are just FUN! I love playing with their kids and they make my job so easy. We had to reschedule a couple times because the blossoms were late and they were so laid back and understanding about it. I’m convinced I have the best clients/friends. The mom, Jordan, is so photogenic. Capturing her relationships with each family member was so special. I love those tender little moments. Thank you Anderson family!

Favorite Session

The session I used to be the most terrified of is now my favorite! In the past, I wished all families that booked me only had one little baby that still slept all day and couldn’t run away from me yet haha. Or maybe even a senior girl that was a total natural in front of the camera and listened to everything I said. I would get so nervous before a family session with several young kids or heaven forbid, toddlers! How will I win them over? Will they listen to me? What if they cry the whole time? Will dad just roll his eyes when I give him directions? Once I figured out how to work with energetic kids instead of against them, it all changed! Of course kids don’t want to stand perfectly still and take a list of instructions from a stranger. And no kid gives a natural smile when you say, “look here and say cheese”. Instead we play games and run and cuddle and it’s magical. Family sessions are so fun and are now my favorite to shoot! Every session ends up going so differently, highlighting each family’s unique dynamic. I love how I can give families the same games to play and yet the photos end up being one of a kind. Capturing the love and joy within families can’t be beat!
