Sweet little Harper is my newest niece. She is the tiniest, sweetest little thing! I don’t feel like the photos really show how tiny she is. I absolutely love being able to photograph my own family! In-home newborn sessions are some of my favorites and this one was no exception! I love the “lifestyle” feel. It’s much more natural and timeless. I treat newborn sessions as a family session, with an emphasis on the newborn. Documenting the entire family celebrating the new arrival is so special!

The Rasmussen family added sweet Olivia to their family just over two weeks ago. She was so perfect and fought to stay awake during most of the session. Reagan will be such a fun big sister. She was so sweet with her baby sister and is full of personality! Thanks so much for having me Rasmussen family. I can’t wait to see your sweet girls grow to become best friends.
I love including the entire family in a newborn session, especially when I get to photograph them in their own home! Adding a baby to family creates an entirely new dynamic and capturing that is so special. My hope is that the Sullivan family can look back at these and remember little details that otherwise would have been forgotten. Thanks for inviting me into your home during this special time in your lives!
The session I used to be the most terrified of is now my favorite! In the past, I wished all families that booked me only had one little baby that still slept all day and couldn’t run away from me yet haha. Or maybe even a senior girl that was a total natural in front of the camera and listened to everything I said. I would get so nervous before a family session with several young kids or heaven forbid, toddlers! How will I win them over? Will they listen to me? What if they cry the whole time? Will dad just roll his eyes when I give him directions? Once I figured out how to work with energetic kids instead of against them, it all changed! Of course kids don’t want to stand perfectly still and take a list of instructions from a stranger. And no kid gives a natural smile when you say, “look here and say cheese”. Instead we play games and run and cuddle and it’s magical. Family sessions are so fun and are now my favorite to shoot! Every session ends up going so differently, highlighting each family’s unique dynamic. I love how I can give families the same games to play and yet the photos end up being one of a kind. Capturing the love and joy within families can’t be beat!
Perfect little Owen Beau. It was easy to see why his parents are head over heels about him! He was wide awake the entire session and so laid back. I swear he was even posing for me a few times! Even his older doggy brother was so well behaved through the entire session. The Carter family recently moved into a new home and it is gorgeous and full of beautiful natural light. The whole thing was a dream!
Bryan and Emily went to the same high school, and met through a mutual friend after Bryan had just graduated. They will soon be celebrating their 5th Valentines together (though it sounds like they put each other in the friend zone for the first one haha). They love to travel, workout together, grocery shop together and just be outdoors. I could tell they were so prepared to be parents! They are naturals with their sweet new babe, I loved watching them together. Their excitement for bringing Owen home was contagious! Congratulations Carter family, I’m so happy for you!
I’m so grateful I was able to photograph the Baumgartner family and their newest addition, Haylee. They were referred by another client of mine and it seriously means the world when you guys refer me to your friends and family, so thank you! Julie and Lincoln are both originally from Utah, Julie from Mount Pleasant (small town girl) and Lincoln from Kaysville. This session was two days ago during the crazy snow storm we got here in Salt Lake City. Traveling to the studio was a little nerve wracking and slow, so I’m grateful we all arrived safely. Thanks to this family for braving the crazy weather! This session went so well! The studio we shot at had limited availability that day, so our time together was shorter than I prefer. We got so many great shots though, it made my job of narrowing them down difficult. The star of the session was obviously sweet Haylee. She arrived 3 weeks early, so even during her session at 4 weeks old she was the tiniest little thing! Her older sister Payton is 5 years old and in preschool. She was a little shy at first, but it wasn’t long before she was running around and showing off her energetic personality. She was so sweet with her baby sister, they were melting my heart! Lincoln is the cutest dad to his little girls. Even though adding another child is challenging, he said he was enjoying the extra time home with his family. I could tell Payton was loving having dad around more too. While Julie was feeding the baby, I had fun capturing them playing and interacting. And beautiful Julie. She was so relaxed and easy going during the whole process. If she is sleep deprived, she hides it well. She is just gorgeous! Thanks Baumgartner family and congratulations on the new babe!
Watching new parents with a fresh little babe never gets old! There is something so special about capturing their new love in the comfort of their own home. Especially when their home is so cute! Avett was the best newborn I have ever seen! She slept almost the entire time and was a perfect little angel. She’s the sweetest!
I love this family! They recently welcomed tiny Josie into the family and I’m so grateful Tara asked me to document this exciting time in their lives. There’s nothing quite like having a newborn around. They are all so smitten with her. And look at that head of hair! She was so sweet. The best compliment as a photographer is having return clients. I took their family photos at Antelope Island last year (you can see that session here). I’m so grateful for this family, thank you!
