I have photographed the Smith family several times, and they also brought their son to my portrait minis this year! I adore them, return clients are just the best. I’m excited to see them each time, and see how adorable Oliver has grown. He has such a playful and adventurous spirit. He always makes it so fun!

Our house only has two bedroom upstairs, so when we were expecting our third baby, we knew the girls would need to move downstairs. We live in an old house and whoever finished the basement in the past, didn’t do the best job. The bedroom we needed to move them into didn’t have a closet or any outlets! We thought we would just add outlets, an Ikea closet and replace the old painted paneling with drywall. As most DIY projects go, it ended up being much more complicated. You never know what you are going to find once you start tearing into an old house. Behind the paneling, we found active termites. Lots of them! They damaged all the studs and existing drywall, but luckily the ceiling joists were in tact. We ended up completely gutting the room down to the concrete walls and floor. Needless to say it was a much bigger job than we initially anticipated and was a lot of work for me being 8 months pregnant haha.
It ended up turning out great and is now the nicest room in our basement! Now we want to refinish the entire thing… but we will need to wait until we forget how much work it wasn’t haha. I included the product links below each image if you are interested in anything you see!

Especially when their home is so cute! Avett was the best newborn I have ever seen! She slept almost the entire time and was a perfect little angel. She’s the sweetest!
Taking photos of my girls makes me happy! I love trying new things and just letting them be. Ava has loved getting her photo taken lately… Tess, not so much. That’s why you see a lot less of her. She runs away pretty fast! I love Ava’s curls and I hope they never go away. Tess has the most hilarious personality and always has messy hair.
Staying home with kids so much can get monotonous, but finding the small beautiful moments in motherhood bring joy everyday.
Holidays are so much more fun with kids! We went to the pumpkin patch at Schmit’s Farm and the kids had a blast! They loved it so much, we went twice.
This was the first year Tess understood trick-or-treating and she was INTO it! It was so fun to watch her. She was not afraid to get right up there and take as much candy as they would let her (which was a lot)! She pretends to be a kitty all the time, so this was the perfect costume for her. She crawls around “meowing” until you pet her haha. It’s the cutest! Ava changed her mind a million times about what she wanted to be, but finally settled on “Fatman” (Batman haha). By the end of the night they were cold and exhausted, but had a great time!
I married into the best family you guys! This is my husband’s brother, James and his gorgeous family. If you have ever met John, I probably didn’t even have to tell you this was his brother. I can’t tell you how many times people get them confused haha. I love taking family pictures for them! They are so fun and beautiful inside and out.
I sat down to edit a sneak peek of this session and ended up finishing the entire thing! This family is just too gorgeous, I couldn’t make myself stop. Val and I know each other from design school and I love each time I get to see her and her family. Their sweet Gavin is growing so fast! He looked like such a little man in his outfit. He has grown so much since their session last year (see it here). Gav definitely has a future in modeling if he wants it. He had so much fun exploring, running, and was mesmerized by the river nearby. Hopefully we wore him out and he slept like an angel that night.

I was lucky enough to photograph Elena and her adorable kids last year (see that session here). Her husband was deployed and she wanted updated family pictures to send to him. They are so sweet! I loved being able to see them again and their daddy got to join them this time! Yay! Kids grow and change so quickly… it’s fun to see them each year.
Sometimes I shoot personal work on film. Since all the pictures from my childhood are on film, these instantly feel like old memories to me. I love that about it. And the colors are just so perfect. I will always remember summers hanging out in the back yard after John gets home.
We went camping over the 4th of July and it was so great and so dirty. I have never seen my kids get so dirty! They were actually pouring buckets of dirt on their own heads. Toddler heaven! I only pulled out my camera once, but I took some cute videos on my phone and I’m working on making them into a home video. I’m definitely not a pro, but it has been so fun to make something meaningful out of all the random videos on my phone. I will share when it’s finished!
